BILL AND CHERYL: |
Bill spent some time in Montana as a hermit in 1984/5. He lived in a shack no bigger than his Jeep that had no running water, no electricity, and no phone. He chopped wood every day during the winter for the fire - this taught him a huge dose of personal responsibility. He spent some time doing minor jobs until he managed a corporate store selling paint. Then he moved into property management for his family until he retired. Cheryl took hold of her own life during the end of her senior year in high school and moved out of the house. She worked in an accountant's office and was a valuable employee for ten years. She has remained accomplished and astute at managing her financial responsibility ever since. She lost her first-born son within hours of his birth, and her brother a short time later.
Both of us are avid gamers. We started with Everquest in 1999 and have played online games since. Cheryl has played Bacall in Everquest as a plucky halfling warrior (also Sissee the gnome cleric). I played as a gnome enchanter named Tilden. We ran the guild Iron Knights named after my game store on all our EQ servers. Other characters of ours are Muttkicker and Mibellah. We've maintained our accounts there on the Xegony server (Eci to Zebuxoruk to Xegony) while branching out into other games. Our kids got us into WoW and we can be found as Muttkicker and Soulcatcher (or Soulkatcher) on various servers: Blackrock (Belladawna for her) and Stormreaver. Our gaming contact is eqtilden@yahoo.com and we welcome old contacts. We are particularly interested in re-establishing two old friendships: Pirator (the human paladin) and Tindari (the dark elf enchanter). |

GOD: |
We both believe that Almighty God has offered us the gift of salvation through faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus. We both understand that Jesus was none other than God Almighty in the flesh. We both thank God that we are no longer under the curse of the law and that our faith justifies us. We find the best description of what we believe is encapsulated by ROMANS 4:4-5 "Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness." Thank God, He justifies the ungodly who don't even try. Surely, that is the "good news" of the gospel. |

MAN: |
We don't idolize anyone, least of all anything from Hollywood. Everyone has their own problems, however well-hidden, and we would all do better to spend our time concentrating on ourselves and God than emulating someone else and their problems. |

OUR MARRIAGE: |
Yes, Bill has been married twice before, and so has Cheryl. In each, the first marriage was the young and stupid decision where the other spouse "grew away" from what we had married. In the second, we found the calculation of a marriage modeled after a business deal just didn't work. If there's a 3-strikes and you're out penalty, then we're still on our 3rd swing. Looks like the 3rd swing is a home run. Many people have been married and divorced, and many people idolize men or women that have been married 6, 7, 8 or more times. We know we made our mistakes; if others can't get over it, then our message is clear - grow up! This last one (for both of us) wasn't young or stupid, and wasn't a business decision. It was all love. For those that can't get over it, we're sure you'll have plenty of room on your tombstone to detail just how awful we were. Like it'll really matter in 100 years... |
