Global Warming
Global warming is the boogeyman of liberals. But what is it? Some scientists believe evil America has used so much gas and CFCs that we're killing the planet with greenhouse gasses. Other scientists point to the evidence that temperatures fluctuated wildly over the course of millenia, long before evil America began its Industrial Revolution. Those scientists believe that global temperature change may in fact be induced by natural causes, such as volcanism and solar variations.
You have to wonder, what caused the Earth to warm during the last Ice Age? Dinosaurs running around blowing all those cans of deodorant? Prehistoric man absuing fossil fuels in their Ford Expeditions? Exactly how many aerosol cans were around during the last Ice Age? How many evil American SUVs? Does anyone notice that only American SUVs are evil?
But back to being serious. The liberals believe, with full hand-wringing, that evil Americans are causing global warming. They believe that we're causing the earth to get warmer and warmer and warmer... You know what that is supposed to do? Well, at first, the liberal sounds intelligent. Global warming is supposed to start melting the polar caps. Sea levels will rise. Fair enough, it sounds logical. But liberals don't do the smart thing and shut up, there. No, they keep going. Okay, we get a super hot earth and melting polar caps. Know what they claim then? Instant ICE AGE! Oh no! I ain't kidding. They really believe that. Oh, some nut-heads will attempt to explain that melting caps will cause water levels to rise and moisture levels to increase which will result in altered weather patterns and then all of a sudden, instant Ice Age. Ever see The Day After? Vice President Cheney refuses to sign the Kyoto Protocol and a WEEK later, instant Ice Age. The "scientists" in the movie blame the ice age on Cheney's refusal to sign the Kyoto Protocol a week earlier. Hmm... all it takes is a week to to avert the next ice age? Sounds too stupid to be believable, and it is too stupid to be anything but liberal fantasy.
Hmm, well, if global warming eventually brings an instant ice age, then we no longer have a global warming problem, do we? Liberals should be happy. But this isn't really about global warming so much as it is a way to strike at America's capitalism. Remember I mentioned the Kyoto Protocol? What is the Kyoto Protocol you ask? Even liberals should ask the question because they don't know what it is. A liberal will wring their hands all over the KP (Kyoto Protocol) and how America will kill the environment if we don't sign it. From their statements, it is obvious that they have ZERO clue what the KP is.
First, here's an internet link to a full overview of the KP. Read it carefully. America is designated the largest emitter of greenhouse gasses. Do you know that cow flatulence is the largest factor in greenhouse gasses? Anyway, China comes in second as an emitter. The KP basically sets up a trading system. KP does NOT reduce any gasses. Supposedly, it sets up an incentive by punishing those emitters. For example, America emits more than KP allows, so America BUYS "credits" from a country that uses less than KP allows, like say, Libya. Nothing really happens under KP except that America PAYS Libya so that we can continue raising cattle for beef. Doesn't that sound like international socialism? Well, guess what? IT IS.
Want to know something even more galling? China is the next largest emitter of gasses. KP gives those warm and cuddly communists a totally free pass! They don't ever have to pay anything for their gasses. EVER. Sound fair?
The Kyoto Protocol is bad legislation that solves nothing, and only intends to implement a global welfare program for petty dictatorships so beloved by the liberals.
Any warming in the earth's atmosphere and the evidence of rising CO2 emissions is more likely due to underwater volcanic activity heating the oceans and releasing more CO2. See HERE for that info. The quack there seems to have his data right, but he believes in the next ice age also. At least his rantings make more sense than cow gas bringing super hot temperatures and thus an ice age.
End result? Many real scientists do not believe America is killing the planet. Those scientists believe in natural warming and cooling trends that have nothing to do with man. Think back to my question about the last ice age. How many aerosol cans were being used 65million years ago? And yet the earth warmed. My money is with the logical science, not the "only-look-at-the-results-that-will-help-me-politically" crowd.
