A distance shot. Hard to tell, but under the siding is all Victorian fishscale. We'll be ripping all the siding off and restoring the scale.
Note to designers who might visit here looking at the project: I welcome suggestions, but we know what we want and if I say "no," I mean NO. That means shut your damn mouth and just nod. I don't need wannabe interior designers arguing with me - you're wasting my time and you won't get the job!
The front entry columns were all porched over. See next pic down for the demo.
Someone jacked the entry over back in the late 40s. We're ripping all that you see out and restoring the double entry.
Much nicer. October, 2005. Don't count on the brick looking like that after we're done painting. People are gonna scream.
The porch here is partially ripped out. Notice the funny-looking blue lattice above the second story window on the right side? More painted-over stained glass. Can you believe it? We have a guy making new stained glass windows for us.

FIRST FLOOR PARLOR
The parlor here was a lost cause. Someone turned it into a trailer with fake lowered ceiling, painted over stained glass... See Heather over there on the right? Now look at the next pic down.
We rented the house out and this is what the renters did! Well, actually, we gutted the hell out of the place. See the nice fireplace on the right that was walled-over in the first pic?
New windows are in. Late September, 2005.

THIRD FLOOR GUEST ROOM
This is the third floor gable room. Can you imagine anything more hideous? Maybe a mobile home from 1971... See next pic.
Same room after the gut. Nice wood floors (after looking through the dust... they were just sub-floor planks worn smooth by so many feet). We're going to raise the roof and make that center window stained glass.

STAIRWAY FROM SECOND TO THIRD FLOOR IN THE MASTER BEDROOM
Notice the stairs to the 3rd floor is very narrow. Cheryl is even turning her shoulders. The top floor hadn't seen anyone up there in years.
Yeah, we're ripping it out. Too narrow. It'll be moved and widened.

This was a bedroom behind the master. We chopped it up. The curtain wall became our master hallway/closet leading to the bath. The rest of the room (where those matresses are) became the second/third floor stairway.
The original master bath looking toward the front of the house. We closed off the original door and made it a hallway to the back where we moved all the bathrooms. Those shelves hung where the door is in the picture below.

THIRD FLOOR TURRET (AKA CHERYL'S ROOM STAY THE HELL OUT)
The original turret. Tired, sagging, and constrained by the stairway coming up from the second floor.
While the stairs were original, it just didn't make sense. We moved them to the back area of the house. The turret is now a room on it's own and more open. Primed. Yes, the trim will be black. January 2006.

This was going to be Heather's bathroom. This was part of the back that was torn off. You can see the new bath area in the picture below.

Originally this was a hall. They walled over the chimney and made the hall into a bath. We ripped it all out.
Hallway is restored. Looking towards the front door. The red is just the first coat. Going to be a lot darker and the color of the entire inside of the house. All the trim will be black. January 2006.
